The message for today that was written 5 years ago
When I wrote The Compass Series five years ago, I did not understand what I was doing or what its full purpose was. I was simply directed to write and what came out was a powerful story that unveils the human heart and reveals God’s heart and desire for our freedom in Him.
We are in a contraction. There is pressure being applied to all of us. This pressure from situations beyond our control is revealing our love affairs with pride, fear, deceit, lust, greed, and many others. It seems that it has become more difficult to hide the realities that have for so long stayed hidden in the closets and compartments of our soul.
And this, friends, is a wake-up call, a hand reaching down, saying, “BE LOOSED from your chains!”
The simple gospel is summed up by Jesus Himself: “Love God, and Love others.”
But my question is this, How can you possibly love another human without the love of God inside of you. Sure you can try and meet people’s temporary needs, you can hold up signs and march around to make them feel better as if you’re on their side, you can hand the homeless person a 5 dollar bill at the stoplight, you can type all of your momentary beliefs about what you feel like justice is at that specific time and in that specific situation.
In other words, you can try and gird up the soul of a man or woman, and yet never truly love them because…
...love is divine in its nature. Therefore, if you do not love God first, you cannot possibly love another human being in any way other than the temporal, which will fade out just as fast as it comes in. In essence, your love and its effects will not last, and you will need to jump on the next cry of injustice and do your work in order to feel like you are a loving person.
If this is true, that you cannot love others without first loving God…
Then is it possible to love God while holding onto fear?
Fear in its nature causes many things inside of our bodies. It causes unwanted tension throughout our muscular system, it causes headaches, it causes disease, but the worst of all, it causes mistrust. Fear would have us hide in a corner by ourselves believing that we are the only person that is trustworthy and who knows best for ourselves. It causes us to create a world of safety and comfort, and even a god who cares so much about how we feel that he would be willing to lay down all of what he is doing just to help us feel better.
This my friend, is one of the great tragedies of the fatherless generation, that the enemy has been causing and succeeding in. A people have been raised up to believe that everything is about themselves and their comfort, and so they will continue to hide in corners in the hope of maintaining the deception of comfort, but hiding there with them is not the God that is the ruler of the universe, it is simply a puppet that they’ve created from pieces and parts of the Bible that they prefer and that feels good to their souls.
In times like these, we all must be honest about the corners we are hiding in trying to deal with the pressure. We must expose ourselves and our corners to the light. We must begin to cry out to God to lead us out of those places we are hiding and we must move and change and fight as He leads. I am praying that we all will face this pressure and stand up to it, and embrace God’s words as they are, not as we would like them to be.
You cannot have trust when you are holding onto fear. And it is impossible to love someone without trust.
Therefore:
-Face your fears
-Trust in the One who is able to save you
-And Love the Lord your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind. (take a moment and ask the Lord how you can love Him in all these aspects of your nature)
Back to The Compass Series. I did not realize that 5 years ago, I would be writing my own story as well as the story of all of us as we go through this difficult season in our lives. However, it has helped me remember that the story I can see and feel isn’t the only story that I’m living in. There is a fight for your story and the question is, who will you give the pen to? Thousands of years ago deceptive words came from an enemy to freedom, and he simply said this, “go ahead, take the pen, write your own story.”
And the words of that thief, who has destroyed the homes of so many, and the souls of many more, still whispers into our depths, “Go ahead, take the pen, write your own story, this is the only way you’ll become something in life, this is the only way you’ll get free from all that fear.”
Isn’t it humorous that the one who pushes fear on all of mankind is trying to convince us that his path is the one that frees us from it? It is a great deception and the hook is waiting for us to simply take a bite.
I encourage you to read The Compass Series for yourself. It is a picture of all of our journey’s on this earth, and it will help you see what you have, what you’ve lost, who deceived you and how, and how to get it all back.
Blessings on your journey with Jesus, the one who created you and your path while you are here on this earth!
